About Calistoga Estate Wines
Our Story
The Calistoga Estate story is every wine buff's dream come true. Marvin Stirman, a "founding father" of the wine business in Washington, DC, spent 53 years as a wholesaler, retailer, distributor and creator of Les Amis du Vin, a national club of wine lovers with over 25,000 members. There was only one aspect of the business Stirman hadn't had his hand in - the making of a wine.
Stirman set out to find the perfect property for his winemaking venture. He had three requirements: The property had to be in juice-rich Napa Valley, the premier wine-growing region in the United States extolled for its perfect soil and weather conditions. Second, it had to include a hospitality house with expansive views. And last, it had to have space for vines and perhaps some olive trees. After a three-year search, Stirman found the perfect property in picture-perfect Calistoga, in northernmost Napa. Soon, twenty-eight colleagues -- fellow wine merchants, industry colleagues and aficionados-- joined Stirman in his venture and named him Managing Director.
Calistoga Estate Wines are handcrafted exclusively with grapes from the incomparable Napa Valley.
Marvin Stirman the founder of Calistoga Estate wines, as well as the preeminent wine club "Les Amis Du Vin" worked with legendary wine maker Harry Parducci Jr. to blend these wines to be soft, full of forward fruit, with no hint of tannin. The predictable result of this royal pedigree are exemplary wines that are defiantly "consumer friendly" and ready to drink.
The famous nationally syndicated wine writers, Karen Page and Andrew Dorenburg gushed, “each one of these unpretentious easy drinking charmers was beautifully balanced. The reds radiantly so, and after discovering each carried a suggested retail price of only $15.00 dollars we were even more surprised."
We are also very proud that our Calistoga Estate wines were recently chosen over a field of worthy competitors to be featured at several official state dinners held at the Vice President’s residence.
